Kyklos

About

In the open competition for a temporary wooden pavilion in Kongens Have in Copenhaguen, ZETA has received an honorable mention for the project Kyklos.

The project deals with the cycle of the garden and nature, from the sprouting of new plants in the spring to the blossoming of summer and the inevitable withering of fall. This fundamental cycle of nature is showcased in the project by the creation of a series of wooden pavilions that each refer to a different step in the cycle. Small closed-up pavilions sprout out of the garden floor while others open up 10 meters high in the air and allows visitors to enter inside the blossoming plant and to experience the filtered views of the garden and a glimpse of the sky above.

The project was honored by the jury for its poetic and dreamlike appearance where the different elements seem to almost grow out of the earth, showcasing the different life stages of the garden itself. By creating such surprise sculptural elements, the project, as a whole, creates an adventurous, fairytale-like scenography for the busy summer life in the garden.
